Supply chain design and operational problems lie at the heart of the most important issues faced in the humanitarian and development sectors. The mission of the CRC is to improve the state-of-the-art in humanitarian supply chain design and management through the development and use of analytics tools to better support aid agencies and vulnerable communities. It aims to contribute to better practices through ongoing partnerships with researchers, national and international humanitarian and govenemental organisations. This CRC supports the first humanitarian logistics research group in Canada and thus allows to:

  • Develop innovative methods to analyse and solve logistics and transportation problems in the humanitarian sector;
  • Train highly qualified personnel through the supervision of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students and the coordination of research projects;
  •  Foster the transfer of knowledge and create collaborations through multidisciplinary research projects involving humanitarian and governmental organizations (field partners) and researchers worldwide;
  • Strengthen Canada’s and HEC Montréal’s international competencies in humanitarian supply chain design and management.
